Battle of OHL Conference Leaders

Owen Sound | by Fred Wallace

The Barrie Colts visit the Owen Sound Attack in the OHL tonight.

The Ontario Hockey League Conference leaders will have a showdown on Wednesday night in Owen Sound at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.

The Western Conference leading Owen Sound Attack will host the Eastern Conference leading Barrie Colts.

Both the Attack and Colts have 35 points on the season, yet are barely ahead of teams pursuing them.

In the Western Conference, the Attack have a one point lead over the London Knights who will be in Owen Sound on Saturday night.

In the Eastern Conference, Barrie is being heavily pursued by the surprising Mississauga Steelheads and the Niagara IceDogs.

Attack coach Greg Ireland relates the Colts are playing well and can beat you in a number of ways.

Owen Sound will be missing a variety of players due to injury and suspension.

Ireland states it's not an ideal situation with key games tonight and ahead this weekend, but he notes it is an opportunity for some players to produce with expanded roles.

Prior to the game tonight, the Attack will have brief ceremony to honour netminder Jordan Binnington.

Binnington with 67 career wins, became the all time franchise leader for victories by a goaltender over the weekend.

Game time tonight is 7 PM.
