Grey Bruce Health Unit waiting for confirmation on first flu case this season
(Grey Bruce ) -
Another free flu vaccine clinic is being held Thursday in Port Elgin, in time to protect yourself from the flu.
The Grey-Bruce Health Unit is waiting for lab tests to confirm the first case of Influenza A in our region this season.
Meanwhile, health officials will offer free flu shots at Northport Elementary School from 4 PM to 8 PM.
Officials encourage everyone -- but especially the very young and the elderly -- to get vaccinated.
They say it helps prevent the spread of the flu.
They're also hoping all staff at hospitals and long-term care facilities get vaccinated this year.
Last year, nearly 70 per cent of staff at local hospitals immunized last year, which is about a 20 per cent increase.
The next flu shot clinic is Monday at Hanover Heights Elementary School from 4 PM to 8 PM.
