Condos for Owen Sound?Monday, October 22, 2012 8:18 AMby
Conditional offer on table for old Todd's Sporting Goods building in Owen Sound.
(Owen Sound) - A conditional offer is on the table for a riverfront property in downtown Owen Sound that is currently owned by the city. The former Todd's Sporting Goods building was bought by the city in late 2010, over concerns that reconstruction of the 9th Street bridge might impact the site. After the work was completed, the property was listed for sale for 300 thousand dollars. Owen Sound Manager of Economic Development and Tourism, Steve Furness says there is a conditional deal on the site, but he declined to say who the buyer is. Furness tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the deal will likely close before the end of the year. The property is across from the downtown Tim Horton's and fronts on the river. No word on whether the property, would be renovated or simply torn down and a new building constructed. Rumours on the street are that a condo development will be located at the former Todd's site.
