(Hanover) -

Families in need of a warm winter coat this winter can pick one up free of charge on Saturday in Hanover.,

The Masonic Lodge is holding a Coats 4 Kids event from 8:30 AM to 1 PM.

Spokesperson Marg Kerr says there are over 400 coats to chose from - ranging from infant to adults sizes.

Kerr adds there is also a large selection of snow pants, hats, mitts, scarves and boots.

All of the items have been donated from the public.

Kerr notes volunteers have spent the last several months washing and mending the winter clothing.

Kerr believes the program provides some much needed relief for families who are struggling financially.

Kerr adds the event is not just for kids --  adults are also welcomed.

Last year, over 400 coats were distributed.

Kerr began the Coats 4 Kids program with her husband Larry and friend Amy Traverse 10 years ago as an outreach for those in need.
