Police will ticket vehicles parking on streets and blocking fire routes near the Bayshore.
(Owen Sound) -
You might want to be careful where you park in Owen Sound this weekend.
City police will closely monitor parking around the Bayshore Community Centre.
And with Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty and an Owen Sound Attack hockey game both taking place tonight --- there will likely be more people parking near the Bayshore.
And Owen Sound Police want you to know there will be an increase in parking enforcement in that area, especially on fire routes and on city streets.
The increased enforcement will start this weekend, and will continue when there are events where parking volume is an issue.
Police say this is a response to complaints from residents in the area who say their driveways and intersections become obstructed, which is affecting safety.
Also, emergency vehicles say they are having trouble with access during events and hockey games.
Police remind you to take an extra minute to make sure you are legally parked, and not blocking intersections, lane ways or fire routes.
