The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks opened their WOAA Senior Hockey season with a 5-2 victory over the Shallow Lake Crushers.

But the Goderich Pirates were thunderstruck in Tillsonburg, dropping a 9-0 decision.

Saturday's loss leaves the Pirates winless in league play this season.

Goderich has been outscored 24-2 in its three games.

One other game of note --  Clinton beat Komoka 4-3 in overtime.

The Goderich Pirates will try to tame the Thunder at home next Friday.

It's their only game next weekend, and goes from the MRC at 8:30 PM.
