The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton has been a busy spot since May and the statistics bear that out.

Marketing and Special Events Coordinator Shannon Paiva says they have been tracking who's visiting and where they're coming from and how they found out about the museum in the first place.

Paiva tells Bruce County councillors recently the results are encouraging.

She says visitors say they love interactive facet of the museum where adults and children are invited to touch things and play with them and even make noise in some cases.

Paiva says there's no way they'll be changing that.

She says between May and September of this year, over 24 thousand people visited the museum.

Also they know they are getting long-term support with over 550 memberships being sold which is up from last year.

Paiva says if there's one stigma they'd like to change is that they don't want to be looked upon as a "rainy day" destination.

She says on such a day up to one thousand people may visit the facility however on a sunny day, that may drop to 300 visitors.

Paiva says the numbers are fantastic but she's looking for ways of making the museum more of an any-day destination point.
