Well Known Vice Barry Middleton Dies at the age of 55
![]() (Owen Sound) - Prominent local curler Barry Middleton has passed away. Middleton, who was 55, died yesterday at Grey Bruce Health Services As a curler, Middleton was best known as a Vice for the Al Hutchinson rink, which primarily played out of the Blue Water Curling Club in Owen Sound. The Hutchinson rink with Middleton at vice, competed several times at the Ontario Men's Curling Championship along with competing at the Ontario Intermediates Visitation for Barry Middleton is at the Paul H. Eagleson Funeral Home in Tara tomorrow with a Memorial Service in the Chapel on Saturday at 11 AM.
from the Blue Water Curling Club Barry curled with the Al Hutchinson rink for more than a decade and a half; from 1989 to 2000 and then again from 2005 to 2010, as both the vice & the third on the rink From 2000 to 2005 he skipped his own team. Barry Middleton retired from curling in 2010
Among his competitive accomplishmenets; -Men's Tankard, 1989 in Trenton and 1998 in Peterbourgh -Provincial Mixed finals 1993 and 1995. - competed at least twice at the Provincial seniors- - In 2010 he was a member of the Provincial Intermediate Championship rink, with Al Hutchinson, Steve Gregg and Randi Belrose. - One of a few curlers to play in both Port Elgin Super Spiel 1 and Super Spiel 25. -Barry Middleton also played hockey for the Owen Sound Greys and was an avid golfer.
