If you reside anywhere in Grey County -- you could soon see an increase in your County taxes.

As it stands right now, the proposed 2013 Budget has a 2.16 per cent tax increase.

That works out to be just over 1.3 million dollars added to the over 50 million dollar 2012 budget.

Grey County Director of Finance, Kevin Weppler, says the extra cash is for things such as staff and service increases -- keeping with the County's Strategic Plan.

The County plans to add new staff positions like a Community Relations Worker, to assist those struggling with addictions and mental health issues.

They also wants to hire more paramedics, bringing the Dundalk EMS station to 24 hour ambulance service, on par with other county areas.

Weppler adds right now it's just a rough outline, and each of the county's four Standing Committees must review the proposed budget to see where funds are allocated.

Weppler says this is just a draft and it could change as they look for places to save or reduce expenses.

He notes each Standing Committee will provide feedback as to where they'd like to get the budget increase or decrease to.

Council is expected to vote on final approval of the 2013 Budget on November 27th.

Weppler says he is expecting public feedback on the budget review.
