Author Completes Long Walk

Collingwood | by Mariane McLeod

An author is completing a long walk on the Bruce Trail today -- barefoot.

An author from our area is completing a long walk on the Bruce Trail today. Barefoot.

Sue Kenney will arrive in Collingwood Saturday afternoon for the Culture Days events, after walking from Tobermory on the Bruce Trail, mostly in her bare feet.

She started the walk as a way of raising funds for the Vision One Walk foundation, which aims to pay artists for walking as inspiration

Kenney says with downloads and file sharing, there needs to be a new way to pay artists for their work.

She says some of Beethoven's patrons paid him to walk for three hours a day, rather than paying him for his compositions, thinking the inspiration could flow while he was moving.

The foundation is gathering money through the 'crowdsourcing' site, indiegogo.com.

Kenney is hoping for dozens of people to join her on the final stage of her walk today, from Craigleith to the artist hub in Collingwood, on Saint Marie Street.
