David Kennedy has been dismissed after position was eliminated by municipality.

(Meaford ) -

The Treasurer for the town of Meaford, David Kennedy, has been dismissed.

Meaford CAO Denyse Morrisey tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that the position no longer exists within the Municipality of Meaford.

She says it has been eliminated because of 'strategic and organization review'.

Kennedy had been with the Municipality since early 2010 after he started volunteering.

He worked with the city of Guelph for 25 years and retired from their finance department.

When Kennedy arrived in Meaford the Municipality was struggling with a deficit of around three million dollars.

The Deputy CAO/Director of Corporate Services/Treasurer was dismissed on Friday.

No further details are available.
