Trees are being planted in Owen Sound today by many volunteers.
![]() (Owen Sound) - There will be more green in Owen Sound after today. TD Bank's Friends of the Environment Foundation is again planting trees in the community. More than 150 trees will be planted by 32 volunteers at the 8th Street East water reservoir next to Sydenham School. The planting starts at 9 AM on Sunday. In total, 40 thousand trees will be planted across Canada this September by over 65-hundred volunteers. The event takes place in 135 places across the country -- as well as 10 communities in the United States, and three in the U.K. Since 1990, the Friends of the Environment Foundation has given more than 57 million dollars in funding to 20 thousand environmental projects across Canada. And the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre is also celebrating National Tree Day, which is Wednesday, September 26th. The winners of the museum's "Trees Living Spirits" photo contest will be announced at a reception Tuesday night at the museum at 7 PM.
