Pinwheels For Peace

Unique pinwheels with messages dot the horizon in the Kincardine area.

(Kincardine) -

If you're in the Kincardine area, you're likely to see a lot of those toy pinwheels that kids carry around.

However, these particular pinwheels are more than just toys.

Members of Community Living Kincardine and District, along with private citizens, have been "planting" Pinwheels for Peace.

The idea is the pinwheels have messages of peace on them written or drawn by those who plant them.

Kincardine is part of a world-wide event that began three years ago.

You will see some of the pinwheels in downtown Kincardine gardens, at Victoria Park, the boardwalk gardens, the municipal administration building and at the Davidson Centre.

Well over 200 pinwheels were "planted" last year.
