The annual Terry Fox Run takes place in numerous communities across our region.
![]() (Regional) - Thousands of people across the region will join others across Ontario running for hope Sunday. The annual Terry Fox Run raised 12 million dollars for cancer research last year at 225 community events across Ontario, and another 39-hundred school events. The Marathon of Hope is in memory of Terry Fox, who bravely set out in 1980 to run across Canada on a prosthetic leg to raise money for cancer. His run was sadly stopped short after 143 days, outside Thunder Bay, Ontario, when the cancer spread to his lungs. The Terry Fox Run was started in 1981, the same year he died.
