50 OPSEU members are gearing up for a strike at Participation Lodge near Holland Centre.

Union Negotiator Lynne Easter says a mediation session is set for Sunday at the Best Western in Owen Sound, but she is not overly optimistic a deal can be struck.

Easter says Management has moved very little on the issues, and the workers are poised to walk out at 12:01 AM on Saturday September 22nd.

The workers have been without a deal since March 31st, 2011.

The board at Participation Lodge argues it doesn't get enough funding from the province to meet the union's demands.

But OPSEU claims there are 11 Managers or Directors at Participation Lodge for the 50 staff -- and Easter questions some of the management spending practices.

For one thing she says only 55 per cent of the wages go to the workers, with 45 per cent going to the management side.

Easter also says of the 3.9 million dollar budget, about 700 thousand is listed as miscellaneous expenses.

The negotiation session this Sunday begins at 10 AM.
