(Owen Sound) -

The Intertownship Fire Department has a new Deputy Chief.

Jeff Gautreau has been on the job in the Owen Sound area for almost two months.

Gautreau arrives in Owen Sound from Clinton -- and has been firefighting for 22 years.

Gautreau tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he has been spending the last few weeks getting to know the territory and the 40 volunteer firefighters.

Gautreau is one of only two full time firefighters in the Intertownship department -- the other is Fire Chief Carl Linthorne.

Gautreau admits the Intertownship department is unique because it's stationed in Owen Sound but doesn't work in the City boundary.

The Intertownship Department covers the four townships around the City -- including Keppel, Sarawak, Derby and Sullivan townships.
