New track record time set for Filly Final at Hanover Raceway.
(Hanover) -
Hanover Raceway staged their annual " All Trot " Night Saturday evening with all 12 races on the card being contested by trotters.
The highlight event was the 38th annual Walker Memorial Trot which was won by " Long Ago " driven by Bruce Richardson.
Richardson got off to a terrific start taking the lead at the first turn and never was caught posting a time of 1-58 and 3.
Richardson admitted the start was key for the horse who posted a blazing fast opening quarter in 27 and 2.
The Walker Memorial is named in honour of Allan & Viola Walker of Owen Sound who had a lengthy history in the sport. Richardson states winning the Walker Memorial gives him a great deal of pleasure based on the Walker legacy and based on his working relationship with the Walker family.
The " Balanced Image " Finals were also staged Saturday night at Hanover Raceway.
The Filly Final was taken by " Princess Lilly " driven by Mario Baillargeon in a track record time of 1-59 and 4. The time lowered the existing track record by more than a second.
The win by Baillargeon capped a string of 4 consecutive victories on the card
And the " Balanced Image " Colt final was won by " PC Dream Ticket " owned by Peter Clements of Dobbinton. " PC Dream Ticket " driven by Ross Battin took advantage of a late break by " Eat Trot Pray " at the top of the stretch to post the win in 2-02 and 3.
