It was a tragic end to the search for a missing Listowel area man.

The body of 53 year old Gordon Van Dyke of Atwood was found in Lake Huron south of Bayfield just before Noon on Wednesday.

Van Dyke vanished Sunday around 4 PM after he went swimming with another man off a boat in Lake Huron.

Neither man was wearing a life jacket and the waters were choppy at the time.

Another Listowel area man was rescued by others on the boat, but Van Dyke slipped under water and was not seen again.

Searches on Sunday and Monday both on shore and in the water turned up nothing.

Van Dykes body was found by an OPP officer.

A post-mortem examination will be done in London.
