(Mount Hood, Oregon) -

Owen Sound skier Tannis Boisvert is out of commission after breaking her heel last month.

While training with the Ontario-FIS ski team at Mount Hood in Oregon, Boisvert fell and suffered the injury.

Boisvert relates the snow was extremely soft on Mount Hood the day she fell which contributed to the crash.

She states she knew immediately there was a break, even though a broken heel in a ski boot is a very rare accident.

Boisvert hopes to return to competitive skiing with the Ontario FIS team in November.

She's disappointed that she will miss a competition in Austria at the end of September, but overall she's focused on returning to full strength.

Boisvert admits the timing of the injury is poor as she felt she was making very good progress in her skiing and was getting exceptional coaching at the Camp in Oregon before she fell and broke her heel.
