(Chatsworth) -

We are days away from a strike deadline at Participation Lodge in Chatsworth.

The 50 members of OPSEU Local 235 at Participation Lodge have voted down their employer's final offer.

The union will now file a 'no board report' -- which will start the clock ticking towards a legal strike deadline.

No further talks are scheduled.

The employees have been without a contract since March 2011.

The union says the outstanding issues are wages and working conditions.

The board at Participation Lodge blames the province for a lack of funding -- but OPSEU claims the board is top heavy with 11 managers supervising 50 staff.

Participation Lodge is a long-term care facility for youth and adults in Grey Bruce with physical and developmental challenges.

OPSEU President Warren 'Smokey' Thomas wants the employer to get back to the negotiating table with what he calls a reasonable contract.
