Man Identified in Drowning

Tragic start to Labour Day weekend as 36 year old man drowns at Sauble Beach.

A tragedy to start the Labour Day weekend at Sauble Beach.

A 36 year old man from Milverton has died after drowning.  

Bruce Peninsula OPP Constable Peter Zehr says the man was pulled from the water by nearby residents around 2 PM on Friday.

Zehr says CPR was performed on the victim before he was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead.

The coroner has listed drowning as the cause of death.

The victim has been identified as Jeremy Gerber.

At the time of the incident, a high wind warning was in effect.

Zehr says the waters were turbulent at the time with high winds causing waves almost one metre high.

Gerber is now the 13th fatality on Ontario waters this summer.

Police are remind you to keep wind and water conditions in mind when going swimming, boating or fishing this Labour Day weekend.
