Some good news for cyclists in our region.
Georgian Bluffs council is pushing for a movement to implement bike lanes on Highway 6 between Springmount and Hepworth.
There will be an upcoming public participation where cyclists can voice concerns or show support.
Georgian Bluffs Mayor Alan Barfoot says a lot of people come up Highway 6 on their bikes destined for Tobermory to take the ferry across.
Barfoot says when road work on Highway 6 begins council will be looking to add bike lanes.
He notes there are already bike lanes further north on Highway 6 near Mar.
Barfoot notes bike lanes will be a hot topic, but there have been other concerns expressed in relation to Highway 6 -- many from land owners worried about entrances on their property.
The public participation meeting is from 4 PM to 8 PM today at the Shallow Lake Community Centre.
