On Sat. June 2nd, the team of Steve and Jake Schuknecht travelled to London Fairmont greens to lose their first game to Brian Fowler and Chuck Townsend (Fairmont) 12-11 in a Men's Pairs Tournament. The second game, the Schuknecht team was up 17-3 against Wayne Wright (formerly of Chesley - now Thamesford) and Bob North, when the winds of fortune shifted and they held on to win 19-13. In the third game, they met Kevin Jones and Craig Dorey (Elmwood, London) for a loss of 18-11 having given up a 7-ender when the green took the bowl right around the cat - just as it was coming in nicely.
The next day a Chesley group car-pooled to the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club who were hosting a Men's Pairs Tournament. Malcolm Whyte (Burlington) Skipped Jake Schuknecht (formerly of Chesley) to win the top prize of the day. They beat Steve Brancier and Mike Wagner (Guelph) 14-11; going on to smash Rick Burrows and another Rick (Toronto) in a 19-10 game of bowls. Finishing up the afternoon in a 'certainly was raining' atmosphere for a 24-11 score against Barry Martin and Ken S.. (Guelph).
Steve Schuknecht and Murray Trask made friends in the first two games, winning the third 16-11 against Ray Klein and partner.
Eric Weatherall and Scott Barfoot also made friends for the first two games and won their third: opposing Warren Gregg (Guelph)and Terry 15-9.
Katie Schuknecht was honoured to be hired to be the DrawMaster and enjoyed the meal with all the teams.
