The Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation is holding their seventh conference on the environment this week.
Coastal Resources Manager Geoff Peach says they hold the "Is the Coast Clear?" conference every two years to bring together students, educators, politicians, industry and landowners.
Peach says the keynote address this year will look at the Goderich tornado and discuss the scientific and social effects of the extreme weather event.
Environment Canada's Geoff Coulson and Goderich Mayor Deb Shewfelt will present the address together.
Peach says they'll be hosting five other speakers who will focus on issues like ecology, degraded beaches, water levels and invasive species.
He says the full-day conference can be attended by anyone and costs 40 dollars, including lunch and 25 dollars for students.
Peach says you can pre-register by calling the Centre at 519-955-6269 or going to their website at www.lakehuron.ca
The day starts at 9 AM Friday May 18th at the CAW Centre in Port Elgin.
