The Owen Sound Attack avoided elimination from the Ontario Hockey League Playoffs with a 6-5 overtime win over the Kitchener Rangers Wednesday night at the JD McArthur Arena
Attack forward Kyle Hope scored twice for the Attack including the game winning goal at 5:49 of overtime
The win by the Attack cut Kitchener's lead in the best of 7 to 3 games to 1.
Hope was acquired from Oshawa at the Trade Deadline as a defender, but with Owen Sound being short of bodies due to injuries and suspension, Hope has been moved to the forward position
Daniel Catenacci, Chris Bigras, Daniel Zweep & Zach Nastasiuk also scored for Owen Sound who doubled their offence for the post season.
Going into the game, Owen Sound had scored just 5 times in the first 4 games. Last night, the Attack exploded for 6 goals.
Cameron Brace had 3 assists for the Attack but was out of commission when the game winning goal was scored.
Brace picked up a 10 minute misconduct after Cody Sol tied the game for Kitchener with just under a minute to play in regulation.
The officiating, and other aspects of the game, had Attack coach Greg Ireland irate following the match.
Ireland stated he was trying not to get fined by the league, but was fuming over what he considers to be preferential treatment given to the Rangers
Tobias Rieder had a 2 goal game for Kitchener while Sol, Zach Lorentz and Andrew Crescenzi had the other markers in a losing cause.
Game 5 in the series is Friday night at Kitchener ( 7:15 pm for Grey Motors Bearadio on CFOS )
IF the Attack can win again on Friday, it would bring the series back to Owen Sound for Game 6 on Saturday night.
