Orillia Cyclist Dies

85 year old cyclist has now died after being hit by unmarked OPP cruiser in Orillia.

The 85 year old Orillia cyclist who was struck by an unmarked O-P-P cruiser has died.

A news release from the Ontario Special Investigations Unit says David Nesbitt succumbed to his injuries on Friday around 5:15 PM at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.

Nesbitt was riding his bicycle on Atherley Road last Tuesday afternoon when he collided with the vehicle near Gill Street.

He was taken to Sunnybrook with serious injuries.

The driver -- a 46-year-old O-P-P officer -- was taken and treated at Orillia's Soldiers Memorial Hospital that day and later released.

A post-mortem on Nesbitt had been scheduled for Sunday.

The S-I-U is continuing their investigation into this crash.
