Winterhawks Visit Elora

Regional | by John Divinski

Saugeen Shores Winterhawks take 1-0 series lead into Game 2 of North Final.

The North Division championship WOAA series switches to Elora on Sunday night with the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks visiting.

The Winterhawks have a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series by virtue of a 5-4 overtime win on Friday in Port Elgin.

Hawks coach Jim Grieve says they're going into a smaller barn and they have to adjust.

Rocks coach Kurt Purdy couldn't agree more.

He says his team is hard to beat on their home ice and with the smaller ice surface, will be able to contain the Hawks more.

Greg Virgo, who scored the overtime winner on Friday, says they're playing a stronger Elora team and they're going to have to work harder in what he describes will be a close series.

Gametime in Elora tonight is 7:30 PM.

The next game after tonight is next Friday in Port Elgin at the Plex.

Gametime then will be 8:30 PM.
