Grey Bruce Health Services is launching a new project to accelerate the use of electronic health documentation.
GBHS President and CEO Maureen Solecki says the Canada Health Infoway project focuses on converting manual ambulatory care records into electronic files.
Currently, it can take some time to get ambulatory care records to the patients family doctor.
Solecki notes every hospital taking part in the program will be responsible for compiling records from a specific clinic.
For example, Solecki says they are focusing on urology records...but other hospitals will gather records from other departments -- such as fracture clinics and dialysis units.
She tells Bayshore Broadcasting News, the goal is to create an information sharing network with other hospitals that use the same patient care software.
Solecki notes Canada Health Infoway will provide GBHS with 1.5 million dollars for the project.
That money will be used for new software, equipment as well development work.
