The Lucknow Lancers were in Durham last Friday and broke a winless streak going back to November 5th. The Lancers and Thundercats had a scoreless first period with Durham outshooting Lucknow 14 - 7.
The second period saw the teams trade goals with Andrew Boyle open the scoring for Durham at 2:58 and then Ryan Murley tied the game for Lucknow with a power-play marker at 15:34, Ean Moffat had the lone assist. Ben Dorscht faced 18 shots in the second period for the Lancers while Durham's Troy Loucks faced 11 shots.
The third saw the teams trade a pair of goals to force overtime. A.J. Grant gave Durham the lead at 7:26 and then Murley picked up his second power-play goal at 9:29 with Duncan Minor and Moffat assisting on the goal. Bobby McMann gave Durham the again at 11:26 on the power-play, only to have Lucknow come back again and tie the game at 14:08. Matt McClinchey had the goal with Tyler Devos and Ean Moffat with his third assist of the game. Durham outshot Lucknow 17 - 15 in the third period.
The overtime period solved nothing as the shots were 7 - 5 in favour of Durham. The first round of the shootout saw Joel Petkoff score the Thundercats and Ryan Murley score for the Lancers. The sudden death shootout saw Tyler Devos pick up the winner giving the Lancers the victory. Final shots were 56 - 38 in favour of Durham.
The Lancers wrap up the schedule next weekend when they travel to Elora Friday night and face the Shelburne Muskies on Saturday night at 8:00 in Lucknow.
