Plenty of Crashes

Regional | by Manny Paiva

Only some motorists heed our warnings about driving safely in winter weather.

It appears some people in the area heard the warnings about bad weather, and adjusted their driving.

During the quick freeze and snowfall Tuesday afternoon and evening -- South Bruce OPP report no collisions in their area.

Constable Kevin Martin says it is encouraging, since we haven't had too much winter weather this year.

In Grey County -- some drivers ignored the warnings and paid a price.

The OPP responded to 13 motor vehicle collisions between 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

Fortunately, the collisions were all considered minor in nature.

As we told you on Wednesday -- there were nine crashes on the Bruce Peninsula -- mostly involving vehicles sliding into ditches -- and no one was seriously hurt.

Police remind you to slow down and drive for the conditions and make sure your vehicle is winter ready with a survival kit.
