Admiral Collingwood Motion

Collingwood | by Catherine Thompson

The saga of the Admiral Collingwood Place development continues.

The saga of the Admiral Collingwood Place development continues.

Councillor Joe Gardhouse had put forward a notice of motion that the town be removed as the applicant for the condo project at Hume and Hurontario Streets and for Admiral's Village next to it.

Gardhouse says back in March council approved a package of motions that council would do all the planning steps for the developments including paying for all costs associated with any official plan or zoning by-law amendments.

But he says that was before there were any plans put forward for the projects.

Gardhouse says some clarity is needed and the developments should be put back in the hands of the planning department and not be in the hands of politicians.

During Monday's meeting -- Councillor Ian Chadwick asked about procedure and the clerk said under section 14 of the procedural by-law, there needs to be two thirds of a majority for this motion to even be heard.

The motion will be on the council table at the next meeting on January 9th.
