Patriots Double Sailors 4-2

Goderich | by Peter Jackson

Western Junior C Hockey

It's an outcome the Goderich Sailors have seen all too often in this Western Junior C Hockey League season but the way they went about losing 4-2 to Mount Forest at MRC might be talked about for a while.

Josh Martel scored both of Goderich's goals short-handed with Brandon Priestap and Brandon Dykxhoorn assisting on both.

Tevin Sallans, Tom Collins, Luke Richardson and Troy Hill socred in the Patriots' victory with Dean Nixon accounting for two assists.

Brad Larkin, Dylan Hoffman, Andrew Holiday, Lucas Johnson and Wade Mackey also had assists for Mount Forest.

The win moves the Patriots into a fifth-place tie with Kincardine who lost 7-2 to Hanover.

Goderich head Coach Mark Uniac says his club put in its best game of the weekend despite the loss.

He is especially impressed with the Martel-Priestap-Dykxhoorn penalty-killing line and credits Martel with being the fastest skater in the league when he's on his game.

The Sailors travel to Wingham for a game on Wednesday night and return home to play Mitchell on December 27th.

Mount Forest visits Mitchell on Wednesday.

In yesterday's other Western Junior C game, Daniel Hnatko led the Hanover Barons with three goals in their 7-2 home-ice win over Kincardine.
