The economy of South Bruce and Grey Counties continues to rebound -- with about half of the indicators now edging positive.
According to figures released by the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation -- several of the economic indicators are now trending up in the third quarter of 2011.
Project Manager Dave Barrett says one of the most positive indicators is employment in manufacturing.
Barrett says after a tough couple of years, the number of jobs in manufacturing in the Saugeen Economy totalled nearly 16 hundred -- which was up 6.2 per cent from a year ago.
At the same time, the number of people on social assistance rose five per cent to over 18 hundred cases.
Although the number of building permits issued was down 10 per cent, Barrett says real estate sales were strong at 176 million dollars or about one per cent higher than in 2010.
Barrett is fairly optimistic heading into the 4th quarter of 2011 and into early 2012.
The Saugeen economy covers the areas of Arran Elderslie, Brockton, Chatsworth, Grey Highlands, Hanover, Minto, South Bruce, Southgate, Wellington North and West Grey.
