Admiral and Heritage Up for Discussion

Collingwood | by Catherine Thompson

Controversial development could be removed from Collingwood Heritage District.

The public can voice its opinion of proposed changes to the Collingwood Heritage Conservation District Plan this evening.

The public meeting focuses on a proposed amendment to the plan to allow for the six storey condo building the developer of Admiral Collingwood Place wants to build at the corner of Hume and Hurontario Streets.

It would also allow for a four storey building that will be known as Admiral Village at the northwest corner of Hume and Ste. Marie Streets.

The Heritage Conservation District Plan and by-law currently only allow for three storeys in the district, downtown.

There will be a peer review of possible changes to the by-law to allow for the extra height.
