Sailors drop chippy contest in Mount Forest

The Goderich Sailors were out-hustled and out-muscled in an 8-2 loss to the Mount Forest Patriots.

Playing in Mout Forest Friday, the Sailors were outshot 42-24 by their hosts, as the Patriots bagged two in the first, two in the second and four markers in the third period.

Ben Gowing scored for Goderich, assisted by Josh Martel-- at 15:22 of the second, with Martel netting the contest's last goal at 19:06 of the third, assisted by Curtis Taylor and Shelby Simmons.

The Sailors went 0-6 on power-play opportunities, while Mt. Forest was an impressive 6-14 on chances with the extra man.

The Sailors spent 32 minutes of the game short-handed, with Blake Reed and Nick Gowing tossed on game misconducts for major infractions.

Steve Wilken went the distance in net for the loss, turning aside 34 shots.

Next action for Goderich is tonight (November 26) at the MRC as the squad goes up against the fourth-place Mitchell Hawks at 8PM.
