Future of Goderich Buildings

Goderich | by Rick Stow

Nine properties in Goderich will need tro be fixed, sold or scrapped.

The Town of Goderich has some decisions to make when it comes to municipal properties damaged by the August tornado.

Pending further discussion with the Town's Insurer, Cowan Insurance, there are nine properties or municipal assets which need to be fixed, sold or scrapped.

A factor in decisions-to-be-made is that the Insurance Company does not cover the cost of removing asbestos-- other fixes may be subject to negotiation with the firm.

There are possible buyers for Town buildings at 64 West Street and at Snug Harbour.

A second opinion will be sought on the cost of repairs to the Grandstand and South Street Quansi Hut.

Uprooted trees have damaged the irrigation system in Courthouse Park and it cannot be properly winterized.

An Arbor Walkway is damaged at Harbour Park and there has been no report on the Courthouse Park Gazebo.
