Horse and Buggy Crash

Car collides with horse and buggy in Mount Forest, 60 year old man in hospital.

A 60 year old Southgate township man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries,  after a car collided with a horse and buggy in Mount forest.

Wellington OPP say it happened at 8 AM on Monday on Sligo road East in the town of Mount Forest.

Police say a 2011 Ford Edge collided with the horse and buggy that was going in the same direction on Sligo road.

The driver of the buggy -- 60 year old Onias Frey of Southgate township -- was taken to Mount Forest hospital and later airlifted to Hamilton general with serious, life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford Edge was not injured.

The horse died at the scene.

Paramedics from Guelph Wellington EMS and Firefighters from the Mount Forest Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Technical Collision Investigators from West Region O.P.P. and members of the County of Wellington O.P.P. Traffic Management Unit are investigating.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the County of Wellington O.P.P. Traffic Management Unit or Crime Stoppers.
