The tax sale of the Talisman Resort will go ahead next month.
CAO for Grey Highlands Dan Best tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that Council did not support a request from the TD bank for a delay until March 1st, so he is moving forward with the sale.
BDO Canada has been appointed as the receiver, and the ski resort at Kimberley will be sold off for back taxes, water and sewer charges as of November 19th.
The resort owes the municipality about 1.6 million dollars, while a lawyer for TD bank says the bank is on the hook for about 4 million.
Best says he has made contact with the Receiver to let them know the tax sale will proceed, and to get any last minute directions for Grey Highlands to follow.
The town CAO says there was no advantage to waiting until March for the receiver to sell Talisman resort.
In fact, he says the tax, water and sewer bills owed to Grey Highlands would keep piling up if the November 19th sale was put on hold.
