Another big donation to the Owen Sound Regional Rec centre fund raising committee...
Peter and Bob VanDolder and their uncle Andy have come forward with a 75 thousand dollar gift to the Centre.
As Local business owners, the VanDolders say they understand the positive economic, physical and recreational impact the centre will have on the region.
Their Family began the home renovation business in 1964.
Since then, the family businesses have evolved and grown to include VanDolder’s Home Team Kitchen and Bath, VanDolder’s Home Team Custom Exteriors and ANDPET Realty.
When the opportunity arose to give back to the community that has given so much to them, it resonated strongly with the family.
Regional Rec Centre Fundraising Campaign Co-chair Tom Rice joined the group on-site today (Mon.) for the presentation.
The west-end gymnasium viewing area will be named for VanDolder Family in recognition of their gift.
To date, over 640 local businesses and residents have contributed to the project.
With 80% of the funding goal achieved, continued community support is needed to take this campaign over the top.
The VanDolder Family gift helped the campaign reach the $4 million mark.
Opening in spring 2012, the ONLY building in Owen Sound to be heated by ice will significantly improve the physical, recreation and economic health of the region.
The new home of the Family YMCA and a double ice pad arena, the Regional Recreation Centre triples the size of the current aquatic facilities and doubles available arena and workout space.
