Winterhawks Double Lancers

Saugeen Shores | by John Divinski

Saugeen Shores is 3 and 0 in WOAA Senior Hockey thanks to a 4-2 win over Lucknow.

The Saugeen Shores are now 3 and 0 on the young "AA" senior hockey season.

Their third win came last night as they downed the Lucknow Lancers 4-2.

The Lancers fall to 1 and 3 on the season.

Winterhawks coach Jim Grieve says he felt the game went well for his squad particularly in the second period when they seemed to control the game.

Player of the game Bryan Kazarian with a goal and an assist says the team is still developing and has a long way to go to reach the form they had when they won the championship last year.

However Kazarian is confident they'll peak at the right time.

Other scorers for the Hawks were Ryan Fry, Shawn Walker and Ryan Dudgeon.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Lancer coach Kyle Wheeler says despite the loss, his squad can take a lot from the game.

He says they're making the little mistakes right now and they are easily correctable.

He says it's his job to make sure his team gets its head into the game a bit more and they'll turn around their slow start to the season.

The Winterhawks take their undefeated record into Shelburne tonight against the Muskies.

The Hawks next home game is next Friday, October 28th against the Elora Rocks.

Gametime at the Plex is 8:30.
