Perth Company Fined

Mitchell | by Peter Jackson

KD Farm Services fined 80 thousand dollars after death of employee.

The Labour Ministry has fined a Perth County company 80-thousand dollars in connection with the death of one of its employees while on the job.

The incident happened in October 2009 during a chicken catching and crating operation on a Mitchell-area farm.

The Ministry says the man died when he was crushed by the rear wheels of a trailer that was moved to make room for more crates.

KD Farm Services was fined when it was found a supervisor who moved the trailer did not have a drivers licence or a commercial vehicle licence.
