Three Fires on Weekend

Bruce Peninsula | by Daryl Morris

Bruce Peninsula OPP are investigating three fires at homes and business.

Fire crews are busy after three weekend fires at Saugeen First Nation and Sauble Beach.

Bruce Peninsula OPP report just after 7:30 PM on Sunday, they were called to a fire on Main Street in Sauble Beach.

Although police won't confirm, witnesses tell Bayshore Broadcasting News it was the Seagull Gift Shop -- and the fire was caused by lightning or a downed hydro line.

Police do tell us that nobody was in the business at the time and there were no injuries.

One home in Saugeen First Nation was completely destroyed Saturday night.

Bruce Peninsula OPP say they were called at 10:30 PM to a home on Highway 21 that was fully engulfed in flames.

There was nobody inside the home at the time, and nobody was injured.

The Ontario Fire Marshall is still investigating.

Earlier that day, police were called to a vehicle fire on French Bay Road.

However, police believe it was a fuel leak and don't consider it suspicious.
