Wasaga Beach Council has approved some recommendations from Committee of the Whole.
Council has agreed to authorize staff to continue to work with the organizers of the Center of Gravity event to bring it to Wasaga Beach next summer.
The mayor says he's waiting to hear from the mayor of Kelowna, BC, where the event takes place, to discuss the impact of the event.
It's a multi-sport event including motocross, mountain biking, wakeboarding, beach volleyball and concerts.
Council has also said yes to moving plans for the new fire hall to the construction phase at an estimated cost of 3.3 million dollars.
Something that was deferred at last week's committee meeting is the renaming of the old highway 26 once the new highway is done in 2013.
CAO George Vadeboncoeur says the issue was deferred because the name Spirit Lake Road was turned down by Collingwood council.
Vadeboncoeur says the two towns have been talking about another name, but it won't be Blue Water View Parkway which was suggested by a Collingwood councillor last week.
Mayor Cal Patterson says he can't give away any secrets, but they do have a name in mind.
Wasaga Beach councillors will further discuss renaming the old highway at next week's committee of the whole meeting on October 18th.
