More Black Bear Sightings

Kincardine | by Daryl Morris

OPP alerted to more black bear sightings in Kincardine and Inverhuron.

South Bruce OPP is again reminding residents to be bear aware.

Police continue to receive reports of black bear sightings in the Municipality of Kincardine.

A bear was spotted Tuesday on Ackert Lane in Kincardine, and over the weekend there were a couple of sightings on Queen Street in Kincardine, and Victoria Street in Inverhuron.

Police say black bears are intelligent and adaptable predators that have an instinct to eat whatever they can find, wherever they find it.

Because of this, they say it's best to keep black bears away from populated areas.

You can help by keeping your property free of attractants by disposing of garbage properly, taking down bird feeders over the winter, and cleaning barbecue grills before and after using them.

You can find more tips and information on reporting sightings in the Bear Wise section on the Ministry of Natural Resources website.

This season, black bear sightings have also been reported in the Town of Saugeen Shores.
