Young Moose Visits Wasaga

Wasaga Beach | by Mariane McLeod

Several sightings of young female moose in Wasaga Beach.

The search is on for a moose on the loose in Wasaga Beach.

Huronia West OPP say they've had several calls about a moose.

It's thought the animal is full-grown, but young and a female. It's mostly been spotted in the east end of town.

The moose was spotted earlier this week in the Powerline Road area, and at one point, it was seen wandering through the Foodland parking lot.

On Tuesday -- firefighters reported seeing the moose near the Ministry of Natural Resources Boat Launch at the main end.

The OPP say if you spot the moose, to call the MNR and police about it, since they're worried about safety in case the huge animal is hit by vehicle.
