New Event Could Come To Town

Wasaga Beach | by Catherine Thompson

A new event could be coming to Wasaga Beach, presented at meeting tonight.

A new event could be coming to Wasaga Beach.

At tonight's Committee of the Whole meeting, councillors will be asked to recommend  that staff continue working with the organizers of the Center of Gravity Event to bring it to Wasaga for next summer.

It's a multi-sport event including motocross, mountain biking, wakeboarding, beach volleyball and concerts.

Members of council will also get a presentation tonight from the consulting team working on the parks and recreation master plan.

The committee of the whole is to discuss the name of Spirit Lake Road for the old Highway 26 once the by-pass is done in 2013, but Collingwood council rejected that name, unanimously, last night.

And councillors will be asked to recommend to council that it approve the fire hall project moving to the construction phase at an estimated cost of 3 million dollars.
