More Money for Rec Centre

News Release of donation by Carpenter's Union Local 2222 to Regional Rec Centre.


Carpenter’s Union Local 2222 donate proceeds from charity golf tournament to Rec Centre

(Owen Sound, ON) Bryan Casemore, Local 2222 Business Manager and John Burley Local 2222 President presented campaign co-chair Tom Rice with a $7,500.00 donation on site Friday, at the new Regional Recreation Centre.

Local 2222 host’s an annual charity golf tournament for their members and select a different charity to support each year. The $5 million Family Y-led community fundraising campaign for the Regional Recreation Centre was the beneficiary of this years’ golf tournament, which celebrated its sixth year.

“We believe that it is important to give back to a community project that supports the livelihood of our members and their families,” commented Casemore. “We are pleased to make this donation in appreciation of the union contractors who have and are currently employing our local members to complete this project.”

Carpenters’ Union Local 2222 serves Grey, Bruce, Huron and Perth counties, a region that stretches from Stratford to Tobermory.

“Supporting, growing and enhancing our community is what the Regional Recreation Centre is all about,” commented Rice..  “This gift is a true demonstration of the community-mindedness of Local 2222.”

Housing a double ice pad arena and the Family Y Health, Fitness, Recreation and Aquatic Centre, the multi-purpose centre will provide year round access to arenas, improved training facilities, and create additional hosting opportunities. People of all communities, ages, backgrounds, abilities and financial circumstances will have the opportunity to enjoy this fully accessible community hub.  The facility will be a place for all to play, grow and connect!
