PEAK Awards Handed Out

Four businesses and volunteer honoured by Bruce Community Futures.


The Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation presented the 8th Annual PEAK Awards on Tuesday night at a gala event held at the Cobble Beach Golf Links.

Chair Barb Fisher says the awards are a way to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit that is alive and well in Bruce Grey.

She says small business forms the backbone of our nation’s economy, and that small businesses have a critical role to play in generating new employment opportunities in our local communities.

The PEAK Awards recognize Perseverance, Excellence, Achievement and Knowledge in Bruce-Grey Business.

This year’s winners included:

Company of the Year (Under 5 Employees)
Bathtub King Owen Sound
Ian and Michelle Andrews, owners

Company of the Year (5 or more Employees)
R. Noble & Sons Inc. – Shallow Lake
Andy and Lisa MacDonald, owners

Entrepreneur of the Year
Crow’s Nest Pub & Deli at Tobermory
Matt & Kirstin Buckley, owners

25th Anniversary Celebration Award
B&W Appliances in Kincardine
Ken Battler, owner

25th Anniversary Celebration Award
Dianne Heinisch  a 25 Year Volunteer Board Member of the Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation

The awards are part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations of the Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation.

The organization provides assistance including business plan development, financing up to 150 thousand dollars, and support of small businesses in the Grey Bruce Owen Sound area.
