Funding for Archival Records

Goderich | by Rick Stow

Goderich is getting 21 thousand dollars to digitize its archival records.

The Town of Goderich is getting just over 21 thousand dollars from the Ontartio Ministry of Tourism and Culture to digitize its archival records.

Linda Rotteau is the municipal employee responsible for the application under the Museums and Technology Fund Grant program.

She tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that handwritten records covering births, deaths and properties over the period of 1850 to 1948 are involved.

Each record will be edited individually to assure it is legible.

The work will then be posted on the world wide web.

Elizabeth's Art Gallery -- a local business with the expertise -- will do the work on site at Town Hall so the records will never leave the premises.
