Letters of Support

Goderich | by Rick Stow

Goderich receives many letters of support in the wake of the deadly tornado.

The Town of Goderich has received letters of support from far and wide in the wake of the August tornado.

Letters have been received from the Prime Minister, Stephen Harper as well as Governor-General David Johnston.

Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources, shares pleasant memories of a personal visit to the community.

Municipalities promising trees, providing donations or wishing the Town well include Petrolia, East Gwillimbury, Drumheller, Toronto, Aylmer, Amherstburg, Midland, Windsor and Gravenhurst.

The Sisters of St. Joseph, the Anglican Diocese of Huron and the Presbyterian Church in Canada are among those offering God's blessings.

A handwritten letter from Verrenica and Don Lunn, who lost their home in the Slave Lake Wildfire earlier this year, is the most touching.

The Lunns were married in Clinton in 1961, and bought their first supplies from Goderich merchants.
